Those who have faced its trials and tribulations before, can once again challenge the darkness in stunning visual quality and incredible performance. Demon’s Souls is the prototypical Souls game, so it carries a bunch of the hallmarks of the formula that has come to define From Software’s titles in the years since. You play a lone warrior venturing into a dark fantasy land dominated by monsters and demons, where your goal is to slay enemies to gain the souls they carry. Those souls can be spent on leveling your character up by adjusting your stats, which can alter the game by allowing you to use different weapons, speeding up your actions, or giving you access to magic. If you die, however, you lose what souls you’ve earned but haven’t spent, so planning and strategizing, playing carefully, and managing risk are all key to the experience.

Keen observance of each of the bosses’ attack patterns and behavior is the key to defeating them along with analyzing and exploiting their weaknesses. Music is often a part of game’s that holds up to time the best, but in this case, it was mostly about providing higher-quality cleaner audio which can happen in modern game development thanks to the advancement of technology. Most players likely won’t notice as good audio should go unnoticed due to it feeling seamless, but this is an improvement for the better in the remake which makes the game feel a bit more modern in 2020 and beyond. All of this is true for Bluepoint’s remake, which largely stays true to the spirit of the original Demon’s Souls, both for better and for worse.

Featuring a design that looks inspired by Pyramid Head’s sword from the Silent Hill franchise, the Meat Cleaver packs a hefty punch in its oversized blade. Belying its sword-like appearance, this weapon is classified as a Large Hammer in the game. As a result, it can only be created by imbuing a mace, war pick, or Great Club with the soul of the Adjudicator Demon boss. A dataminer has indicated that there are several hidden, new items in the Demon’s Souls remake, sending players on a wild scavenger hunt. With stunning designs, dozens of individual stats, and a clever mix of perks and debuffs, it can often be difficult for you to choose which weapons to use in your playthrough.

The armor set provides various protection and resistance buffs to Bleed, Poison, and Plague. A special armor set made special for the remake, the Red-Eye Knight set is a heavy armor set that has some very cool flashy effects. The slits in the helm burn from underneath, giving the helmet a eerie glow, like molten lava bubbling from under the surface. Players expend stamina to perform actions such as attacking with weapons, blocking and parrying, dodging, and sprinting.

We want any player to be able to clear any obstacle simply by learning from mistakes and paying close attention. Then, the reasons for failure must always be clear and understandable. Every problem must have multiple solutions, so that players can tackle it whichever way they want. The game’s controls can never be a factor from which difficulty is derived. And finally, we want to make sure that there’s the possibility for miracles to happen; those magical moments that spread stories outside of the confines of the game world.
