The PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls is, in the ways that matter most, the best version of the game, but that still leaves us with the question of why you should care about Demon’s Souls in the first place. You don’t walk away from a game like Demon’s Souls without a few good stories to share. When I think back on my time with the PS5 remake, two moments that occurred fairly early on in the game spring to mind. The Demon’s Souls remake might be the only true next-gen experience on PS5.
The clothes portion comes with a huge cape, which is pretty darn cool and helps your character stand out. Whenever I felt that Demon’s Souls could have done more, though, I remembered the Old Monk boss fight. See, the Old Monk is a unique boss in Demon’s Souls which can actually be controlled by another player if they invade your world at the right time. It’s a brilliant use of the series’ PvP mechanics that has been incredibly difficult to properly experience in the years since Demon’s Souls‘ official servers went offline. Well, the remake lets you experience the proper version of the Old Monk boss fight, which also benefits from better visuals, enhanced controls, and a crystal clear soundtrack.
Best Demon’s Souls Remake Builds
Even if the remake never gets a PC port, you can at least play the original via emulation, with greatly improved resolution and framerate. That might be the case for any of Sony’s first-party games, but we have ample evidence that From Software’s RPGs are hugely popular. The first Dark Souls alone sold millions of copies on PC, and the series has only gotten bigger since. What makes Sony’s slip-up more perplexing is that, as recently as August 2020, the company expressed interest in more PC ports of its console exclusives. “We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform in order to promote further growth in our profitability,” Sony’s 2020 corporate report states. When asked if Demon’s Souls would ever release on PC, Sony declined to elaborate further.
The downside to the great power that the Blueblood Sword has to offer comes at the price of being very specific with the type of build a player goes for. A player needs to be running a luck build to really get the most out of this weapon, but they will find that it is very powerful. This sword can become one of the hardest-hitting weapons in the game when used correctly. It’s just a shame that the luck glitch was removed so players can no longer one-hit enemies. While the Rune Sword looks cool and comes with a matching shield, there isn’t much use for it. Players who grab this weapon from either Upper Latria or by killing Black Phantom Ostrava will realize that it caters more to players who decide to use magic.
However, the next moment I remember is fairly unique to this next-gen title. It happened when I was walking down a tight corridor packed with enemies wielding crossbows. As I slowly made my way towards them using my shield to block the incoming bolts, I felt my controller rumble. Specifically, I felt the very bottom of my PS5 DualSense rumble. As the threat neared, the console’s haptic feedback sent the vibrations further up the controller.
It seems like Sony may be keeping the door open to a PC version, but wants everyone to be excited about its new console right now. Even if there really are zero PC plans right now, that could always change. The Nvidia leak above was the first evidence that Demon’s Souls may actually be coming to PC, and so far it’s had a very good track record. Of course, it’s hard to say when we might learn more about a Demon’s Souls remake PC release date without an official announcement or teaser from its publisher. That, however, is far more likely to happen now than it was a couple of years ago. Initially, this could have been attributed to Sony’s PC efforts being focused on bringing PS4 titles over first.
It appears that the upcoming Demon’s Souls remake might still make its way to PlayStation 4, according to the game’s listing by a Hungarian retailer. Originally, the anticipated remake was expected to release on PS5 only. Sony’s success with its first-party PC ports has been mixed lately.
Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X Sales: Who Is Winning So Far?
The low Stamina cost on each swing means that your strikes will be fast and reliable without putting your character at risk. The spectacle of seeing this massive creature, while dramatic in the original game, is now astounding. The Demon’s Souls remake’s visual fidelity, its immersive sound effects and score, and the haptic feedback from the DualSense controller together convey the scale of a giant beast tearing through the atmosphere above me.
Demon’s Souls was originally released for the PlayStation 3 and remade from the ground up for the PlayStation 5. Fans of the original can expect a faithful reimagining of the fallen kingdom of Boletaria and go back to slay enemies on current-generation hardware. Demon’s Souls remake was released at the PS5’s launch in November 2020.
This is especially true in the Demon’s Souls remake, where you are often traversing a cliff’s edge or fighting a boss inside a small covered area. Thankfully Fexelea, Samurai_Masurao and a few others dug deeper, compiling a list of these convoluted mechanics in the first Demon’s Souls Wiki in Japanese, and eventually English. Word spread as players banded together to help one another through Demon’s Souls turning it into a cult classic, a phenomenon not seen in gaming since. In short, the Souls community would not exist as it does today, if these hardcore Japanese players had not been the first ones to pioneer the way for the rest of us. The mechanics of Character Tendency and World Tendency, which are barely touched upon in Bloodborne, do not exist in other Souls games and cause each Archstone to change based on your current Tendency. Events happen, enemies move, new enemies appear, NPC quests spawn, and more depending on what actions you have taken in your game world.
But given how Returnal is now primed for a February 2023 PC launch, things might be slowly changing. Demon’s Soul was the first iteration of the series that led on to the hugely successful Dark Souls franchise. Though somewhat stylistically uneven, Demon’s Souls PS5 manages to capture the spirit of the original game.
This build uses the Ring of Great Strength and Cling Ring with Short Spear and Large Brushwood Shield as primary weapon and defense, while Silver Catalyst and Heavy Crossbow are the equipment in the secondary slot. Like the above loadout, this build also uses dual-handed weapons, Kilij and Rune Shield as primary and Insanity Catalyst and Kris Blade as secondary. Moreover, the rings used are Ring of Magical Sharpness and Cling Ring.
Keep going down the stairs, another Dregling will approach you. Dispatch it, and take the left exit to what looks like a small balcony. At the sides of the door frame, you will find two chains, one left and one right. Now go back to the top of the stairs where the boulder was and go to the other side.
